Andrew Elson began his racing career when he was 5 years old in a quarter midget. From the age of 5 to 11, Andrew won numerous championships and set multiple track records throughout the United States racing quarter midgets. He progressed to racing 600cc Microsprints and experienced similar success from the age of 11 – 16.
In 2009, at the age of 17, Andrew took the next big step in his racing career and started racing 410 Non-wing sprint cars on the dirt tracks in Indiana. In his rookie season, Andrew showed the potential that he had honed through many years of racing experience. He was Rookie of the Year at Gas City I-69 Speedway and finished 3rd in points. He was Rookie of the Year at Kokomo Speedway and finished 6th in points. He set 1 fast time and won 1 Dash at Kokomo. In only his 5th start at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Andrew earned his 1st A Main victory of the season. In November 2009, Andrew won the 1st Year Sprint Car Driver award from Hoosier Auto Racing Fans (HARF).

In addition to Andrew’s accomplishments on the track, he is an outstanding student scheduled to graduate in May 2010. Andrew has applied to college (Purdue, IUPUI & UNC Charlotte) where he wants to study Motorsports Engineering.
Our crew chief Jim Forman has more than 10 years of sprint car experience. He has been a crew member with winning drivers such as John Wolfe, Brandon Petty, and many others. Jim enjoys working with up and coming drivers and developing their full potential.
Bill Elson, Andrew’s Dad, owns Elson Motorsports which is run out of our race shop in Westfield, Indiana. Bill has managed Andrew’s racing career since he began in quarter midgets.
For 2010, Elson Motorsports is building a new Maxim chassis powered by a Claxton Chevy. This is the same combination we used with tremendous success in our rookie season.
